The development of the South Johor Economic Region has set up Johor for an economic renaissance. With abundant natural resources, strategically located ports and a prime geographical location, Johor is the southern gateway to Malaysia. It is at the forefront of Malaysia’s manufacturing heart especially in the petrochemicals and agro-based sector, it has a record of excellence in the logistics sector and it is the centre of trade between Malaysia and Singapore. However, Johor’s growth is more than just economic development, as Technology Business Review discovered when we interviewed Dato’ Abdul Ghani Othman, Johor’s Chief Minister. Development in Johor aims at holistic development which will help ensure its sustainability as Johor aims towards becoming Malaysia’s growth engine.

Managing Director of the Royal Mint of Malaysia.
The Royal Mint of Malaysia has been minting coins since 1971 from its factory in Shah Alam. Since its incorporation in 2000 followed by its acquisition by Paradym Resources Industries in 2005, the Royal Mint has set its sights on becoming more than just a minter of circulation coins. Its many products also include commemorative coins and medallions and it counts private companies amongst its clients and not just the central bank. The drive towards commercial excellence is spearheaded by Dato’ Azli Abdul Rahman, the Managing Director of the Royal Mint of Malaysia, who shared with Technology Business Review, his vision of improving the Mint’s technical capabilities, improving the balance sheet and,
ultimately, going international.
